What is a Sleeve Gastrectomy?
The Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Turkey (or Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) is a surgical weight-loss procedure that removes 80% of the stomach and leaves a long, tube-shaped stomach about the size and shape of a banana. The reduced stomach volume leads to less food intake and less calories. However, the main effect is not restricting the food intake, but the change it creates on hormones regulating the hunger, fullness and blood glucose.
This type of surgery cannot be reversed because some of the stomach is permanently removed. Sleeve gastrectomy also requires a shorter hospital stay than most other procedures.
