Most Popular Plastic Procedures

Nowadays it is impossible not to hear anything about plastic surgery. People either get it done because they need it or because they just want to change the way they look. But how much are people influenced by the popular choices or did they find the procedure themselves(after a consultation with the doctor)?

Plastic surgery has become popular due to social media and of course the times have changed and it isn’t frowned up on. Famous people nowadays are more open about it because it isn’t something to be ashamed of. Therefore their fans also want to have the same surgery or at least a surgery. At some point, cosmetic procedure was seen as something that only women had. But these days, men also have it done.

As more and more people around the world having aesthetic procedures, one does wonder which ones are the most popular ones. Let’s take a look:

1 – Face lift a.k.a. Rhytidectomy:

Sometimes we look in the mirror for too long and notice certain things, or a photo and see our smile lines, crows feet etc. Some people may be okay with this but some are not. Naturally they want to change it. There are ways, one of them is face lift. For people who don’t want to be under general anaesthesia, they can have threading face lift, this as you can see from the name is done with threads. But it is temporary. A face lift however lasts much longer.

So what is a face lift? It is an aesthetic surgery that reduces the visibility of the wrinkles and ageing. It also helps with the sagging of the facial skin.

After this procedure, for a while the patient won’t look better because he/she will be swollen and will have bruises.

A lot of patients who complain about their faces tend to also get a neck lift, blepharoplasty also known as eyelid surgery, forehead lift.

Some of the famous people who have had this are, Sharon Osbourne, Anne Robinson, Toyah Willcox, Lauren Graham.

2 – Eye Lid Procedure a.k.a. Blepharoplasty:

In time, our skin loses its elasticity therefore it becomes saggy. This happens to our eyelids too. Because the skin around there is much thinner, sagging of the skin happens there quicker than anywhere else. As it sags, it makes us look older. It can also affect our vision.

So what happens in this procedure? Our plastic surgeon removes the extra skin and fat around the eyes and eyelid and makes the muscles tighter. This operation doesn’t need to be done under general anaesthesia and the patient can go back home after the procedure in the same day.

Bruising, swelling and experiencing dry eyes after the procedure is very normal.

Some of the famous people who have had eyelid surgery are, Katie Price, Gwen Stefani, Goldie Hawn.

3 – Nose Job a.k.a. Rhinoplasty

This procedure can be done for aesthetic reasons or for health reasons. Because our nose is an organ that is very obvious, some people don’t like it when it doesn’t look in a way that they’d like it to. That is why many of people have this procedure done.

What happens during this procedure is that the surgeon depending on what will be done, may cut under the tip of the nose, he/she can also do cuts on the nostril area. Sometimes, in the nose the shape of the cartilage needs to be changed or a cartilage needs to be added, so a cartilage from the ribs or the ear may be needed depending on the state of the nose (the doctor informs the patient during the consultation).

Patients who have this procedure stay at the hospital for a night. After the operation, it is normal to have a swollen and a bruised face. Patients will have a nasal splint for some time. Patients also need to be super patient to see the end result, this can go up to a whole year. Sometimes just for this reason, people choose to get injectable fillers, depending on the expertise of the person doing it, it can look nice, but it is temporary.

The celebrities that have had this procedure are, Khloe Kardashian, Nina Dobrev, Talia Mar.

4 – Breast Augmentation a.k.a. Boob Job:

This one is also very popular. This surgery alone is done more than 300k time just in the USA. Some women get it done because their breasts aren’t symmetrical. Some have it done because after weight loss their breasts aren’t as big.

In course of this operation, the surgeon starts by making a cut under the breast and then inserts the breast implants. Some patients don’t want a foreign object inside them. So they opt for a fat transfer to breast. However, with fat transfer, in time, some of the fat can go.

During the consultation, the surgeon will inform the patient where the implant will be put(under or over the muscle). This is usually based on the patient’s breasts. After the procedure, the patient will be given a special bra.

Some of the well known people who have had this are, Khloe Kardashian, Nina Dobrev, Katie Price, Cardi B.

5 – Liposuction

In time we gain weight and doesn’t matter how much we exercise, some times we can’t get rid of that stubborn fat. So we then have a look at an operation called, “liposuction”. Liposuction also known as contouring can make a person look slimmer and make the shape of their body better. But people should know what this procedure isn’t done to lose weight. It only gives a nice shape to the body, doesn’t make the patient thin.

There are two types of liposuction, classic and vaser. Depending on the state of the body, the surgeon may choose to do vaser.

During the recovery period, patients shouldn’t do arduous exercises. At the beginning pain can be bit too much but in time it passes. Bruising, tenderness is normal. After the procedure, patients need to wear a compression garment.

Some of the famous people who have had this are, Khloe Kardashian, Katie Price, Ariel Winter.

What are your thoughts on plastic surgery being this popular? So many people come over to Turkey to have it because of the prices are really affordable. When patients ask “how much does liposuction cost” to a doctor in their country, the answer usually is 5x more than it is in Turkey. But here the patients get the same treatment, so why pay more?
